This May, Machine O Matic bids farewell to Rose Wolf, one of Machine O Matic's most dedicated team members, who has retired after having been with the company since the beginning. Famous for her desserts and periodic reminders to take a break ("It's time for coffee!"), Rose was also involved in strategic planning and visioning for Machine O Matic, leading monthly staff meetings and managing the staff social fund. The oil & gas industry is driving Alberta's robust economy. Unemployment levels are at an all-time low, Alberta is debt free with an $8B surplus and the future is brighter than it's been in decades. But Albertans are actually being rather realistic in spite of this moment of glory: We know that the labour shortages are really labour imbalances, and we know increased demand on Alberta's oil reserves is affecting trade and the dollar, and we know Alberta's oil boom is not sustainable.
